Cat Naps

The Importance of Taking Naps

How long should you be napping?

Cat taking a nap.
  • Napping for 20 minutes keeps you in the lighter stages of sleep so you are less likely to feel groggy upon waking.
  • Napping for 90 minutes allows you to complete a full sleep cycle that goes through all the stages of sleep.
  • Tip: Set a timer for 30 minutes (10 minutes to fall asleep and 20 minutes for your nap).
  • Researchers recommend napping before 2 p.m. so your nap has less impact on nighttime sleep.
